continually suprising me!

A few weeks ago Porter and I (and Avery) finally made it over to Deseret Book. I had been meaning to get him something new to read for quite some time and remembered this book coming out when I worked there.

The age recomendation says 3+, but I don't really pay attention to those. So I went ahead and got him the first 3 volumes with the rest of the $ I had from Porter birthday or something. They are cute little books, a little too much for him to understand, but I started reading them to him each night before bed. If nothing else it would help me learn/remember the stories better.

Tonight I tell Porter its time for bed and he runs into his room and jumps up on his bed like he always does (i'm lucky its that easy most nights) and I tell him to get me some scriptures and he goes to his bookshelf pulls one out and says 'Nephi.' The 'n' was a little shaky, but I asked him again and he clearly said it. I was shocked he's only read that one like 3 maybe 4 times and I've been reading the other stories in between. The moral of the story... never to young to learn. Then when it was time to say prayers he actually knelt by his bed (something he fights) after I said remember like Lehi. He is a smart and adorable little boy. I am one lucky mom!

Avery's Blessing

With a little help from Grandma Cox (and a little help from Porter)

we made some of this (my wedding dress):

into this blessing dress:

Cute little feet:

Adorable little Avery:

She did really well during the blessing... wide awake and smiling just looking up at all the handsome men surrounding her. I'm sure she felt so safe surrounded by that much love and the strength that comes from the priesthood that each of those men honor and hold. We are so blessed to have so much family and so many friends who love and support us!

Thanks to all who came both physically and in 'spirit.' It was a great day and it was so great to see and visit with all who came... she is so loved, what a lucky little girl!
cuddling with my little girl... it was a long weekend =)

catch up... all the things i've been meaning to post

My eyes are brown, Bryce's eyes are brown, Porter's eyes are brown...even Sadie's eyes are brown, but so far her eyes are blue! She does have a grandma on the Bird side and a grandpa on the Cox side with blue eyes, so maybe the blue will pull through!?!

Avery in her cute lady bug shirt (mom I forgot to show you this weekend)

a little of mom a little of dad...

i love to sleep on my stomach, Bryce cuddles pillows (when I won't cuddle)

She likes both those things... its almost the only way I can get her to nap on her own!

She's spoiled already!

After being in Lakeside 2 weeks in a row Porter has a renewed love for being outside... too bad the weather makes me want to keep him inside... so when i'm not looking he climbs out the doggie door! He has scared me a few times because I'm not used to not being able to find him, but I've given up on trying to keep him inside... he's too fast! He can be outside as long as its shady (luckily the 2 story next door shades the patio most of the day), he has shoes (so he doesnt burn his feet) and he has drinks!

I wanted to get a picture of his feet as he goes out because its cute, but usually I miss that part or I have Avery in my arms instead of a camera in my hands =(

Dad makes nuggets, rice and pea's look a lot more fun!

For those who haven't seen on our facebook account Porter had his 1st bad accident this weekend. Not 5 minutes before my parents arrived on Saturday we were all playing on the bed like we do when Porter's face/teeth/mouth met the headboard =(

he left these teeth marks (Bryce insisted we document it)

Right after it happened... we thought it was just his lip, but it was hard to tell because there was a LOT of blood (Bryce 'didn't' almost faint)... later his upper lip/gum swelled up REALLY big and his teeth were knocked back a little

Sunday night... its hard to believe that this is a big improvement
(less swelling a lots of healing on the lip)

Thanks to all the friends and family who offered medical advice, sympathy and support...
we were pretty freaked out and this getting hurt is all new to us! I'm SO grateful that thanks the knowledge and advice we kept him out of the ER!

We did take him to a dentist today and his teeth should be fine, just a lot of gum tissue trauma that will need time to heal. I'm SO grateful he shouldn't be loosing those teeth!!!

that's it for now... more randomness to come soon i'm sure... Porter is back to his antics... like sticking things/fingers in the fans! He's breaking me into the 2 year old boy phase fast...
I'm not ready for the trauma!
