Porter meets the Pups

I'm not sure if everyone really cares to see, but it was pretty amazing to see these ten little puppies with their mother... I am so grateful to just have one child at a time! Ginger is an amazing little mom and we look forward to raising one of her pups. We couldn't really pick one out because they are a lot alike right now, and I would rather wait (plus Bryce didn't get to see them too much),but we have thought of some names either Sadie, Bailey, or Cali. There were more names that I can't remember, but those are a few. We are SO excited.

It was really fun to see Porter with the puppies he would stroke them and hold them... pretty cute and one of them found his fingers and sucked on his thumb. Adorable! It was good to see the pups and to be in the mountains if only for a day while Bryce helped work on Thomas and Becky's house. Bryce's family is so supportive of one another and we are glad we've been able to help out the little bit that we've been able, it's a great family to be associated with. I'm a lucky girl!

I've been reflecting tonight on how lucky I am... as I left for work I wasn't excited about it and I think all to often I complain or get irritated by the greatest blessings in my life. Life isn't easy, but mine is really peachy if I step back and look at it. There is so much more I could do if I really put my mind to it... and I should smile a lot more often than I do.

Porter's 1st Beach Day

We figured this would be the best way to show Porter's fun day. As you can see he loved the sand and hated the water... he would have liked the ocean if we had tried longer, but he was screaming and people were staring. Oh well next time! He had a lot of fun in San Diego visiting his Grandparents & Aunt. He kept everyone laughing and had a good time. Mom and dad got to spend some time at the temple and didn't have to hold him and entertain him all the time (it was a nice break). We spent time at the beach, ate mom's favorite seafood burritos (Fins is the best!), and had a relaxing weekend! We should do it more often... I miss the ocean a lot! That's it for now!

It's Finally Finished

So Porter is nearly 5 months old and I finally finished his crib bumper. When I was pregnant I was like... he doesn't need one of those, he'll be fine without it cause all the ones I saw that I liked were pretty pricey. Well Grandma and Grandpa Cox got us this beautiful crib and it just didn't seem right to throw just his mattress in there and be done with it. (Plus i'm a little stir crazy at times and needed a project). So here it is proof that something can be made with the $1 fabric from walmart. Yes most of the fabric used is from those awful tables, but it turned out pretty cute and all that matters is he seems to like it. It's funny cause as I worked on it, it was like he knew it was for him, it hung on the back of the rocking chair for about a week and he would 'punch' at it as we rocked. It was pretty cute. He loves being in his bed which I am so grateful for. So there are a few things I learned while making it: always buy more than you think you will need (i went for ribbon, thread and binding multiple times cause i didn't calculate and get enough) so if there's no pattern but the one in your head buy more and return excess later. Second it doesnt matter if its perfect (the order of the fabric, exactly perfect seems, etc.) It'll all work out (at least with the type of thing this was). I found myself stressing that it wouldn't turn out and my sweet husband would just patiently tell me to not worry it would be fine and if it wasn't its fabric from the $1 table. When I started listing things that I learned there were more, but I've forgotten them already so thats it.

In other news, we are headed to San Diego on Thursday once we finish working and we are pretty excited to see my family, the temple, and the ocean. Its about time this little boy felt the sand between his toes and tasted the salty ocean (you know he's going to put everything in his mouth). I can't believe its been about a year or so since I've been... how is it that I managed to stay away that long... I guess those pregnant months did it for me =) I can't wait.

Oh and more exciting news Porter will be getting his first puppy real soon. Grandpa and Grandma Cox's dog Ginger just had ten (yes you read that right ten!) puppies... so sometime the beginning of november we will have another addition to our little family (she'll be a black lab). We are so excited for walks and fetch and all those fun things... and not so excited for potty training and chewing, etc. But we are so lucky to be getting her, it'll be so fun especially for little Porter. If you have any good puppy names let us know, we are starting to pick a few and any of you who know how naming Porter went I need a list too cause Bryce will have some names that need to be vetoed (ie Maximus, Bruno, Billy Bob... those were for Porter) and those were for a human being I can't imagine what he'll come up with for this dog... too bad Porter isn't old enough to pick a name on his own. Now that would be interesting!

That's it for now! Pictures from our San Diego trip to come real soon!

I L-O-V-E LOVE my hands and feet!!!
My hands are either in my mouth or grabbing my toes.

I'm so cute for church! I can't remember who got him this outfit, but the high priests and golfers were loving his outfit this week. (Bryce made me take a picture with Porter and post it since I never take pictures with him, its me taking the pictures usually)

My newest toys... dad made them into handcuffs. The picture on the left is from monday when mom made me run to 4 different stores to get deals on everything on sale. I was a good boy, but by the 2nd store I was falling alseep, but at no time did I let go of my toys, you can't let them out of your sight or grip, who knows mom might return them while I'm not paying attention and they are my favorites (at the moment).

Danny and Rachel got Porter this shirt... my dad may be a geek, but he lets me taste his Dr. Pepper! I like to do and taste everything that mom and dad eat or drink or do. He steals anything you have in your hands at the moment (remotes, drinks, phones)... it's like that country song 'dad i've been watchin' you, dad ain't that cool, i'm your buck-a-roo, i wanna be like you, eat all my food and grow as tall as you are' .... you know the song.

Porter's growing up so fast. I will try and keep pictures coming, but on top of the flash not working all the time I dropped the camera this morning and busted the lcd screen, so now we are in dinosaur land where you take pictures and have no idea if they are good or not, until i upload them onto the computer. so weird! And I can't delete them so once the camera's full i'm not sure what i am going to do... we are looking into getting a new one, but we'll see if the 'budget' allows it (not that we have one, its a matter of finding the $). Good thing Bryce can get some brands wholesale which may help. Anyway hope everyone likes the pictures, drop us a line or two and let us know how everyone's doing! Miss you all!
